Worked practice examples

How can two siblings explore the number 24?

One finds 6 × 4 = 24 crystals. Another solves 3x = 24: divide both sides by 3 to find x = 8. Both use multiplication relationships at different levels.

Try together: 5 groups of 6 and 2x = 30.

5 × 6 = 30. In the equation, divide both sides by 2: x = 15. Ask each learner to explain what the groups or unknown mean.

How to use this practice

Suggested offline routine: model one problem together, let each child try an appropriate problem, and invite each to explain a step. An older sibling can ask a helpful question without giving away the answer. These sample activities are suggestions, not a synchronized in-game lesson mode.
